It has been noted that financial issues and lack of awareness pay a role whether women get tested. Women with low income, no jobs, or health insurance coverage are less likely to get screened. This raised the need for a national campaign to create awareness and provide free screening for the underprivileged.

Stouh Beirut Association, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health launched the National Campaign for the Prevention of Cervical Cancer in a press conference at the Ministry under the slogan: “Early Detection Protects You.”

This campaign was jointly organized in cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Mashreq Hospital, the Lebanese Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology (LSOG), and the National Commission for Lebanese Women (NCLW). The cervical cancer awareness and screening campaign covered free Pap smear testing, at the 208 primary health care centers throughout Lebanon under the Canadian accreditation program.
